All Fourteen 8,000ers by Reinhold Messner This guy is the foremost badass climber in the world. A ruler for others if there is one. All 14 without oxygen, and first!
Mountaineering: The Freedom of the Hills by Steven Cox This is a good basic guide. It makes great browsing material.
Ice and Mixed Climbing: Modern Technique by Will Gadd Another of my favorite books. If you like Ice, this is the best one I've found. Great reading.
On Rope by Smith and Padgett Covers rapelling like no other.
Fixing Your Feet by John Vonhof
Comprehensive Guide to Land Navigation with GPS by Noel Hotchkiss Most people have GPS and don't know how to use them. Start here.

True Believer by Scott Carmichael The story of how Ana Montes, a Cuban spy in the DIA was caught. Quick and interesting read.
Longitude by Dava Sobel The story of how the problem of terrestrial navigation was solved. A very interesting book about surmounting great odds.

Applied Cryptography:Protocols, Algorithms and Source Code... by Bruce Schneier This book should probably not be availiable to the general public - but it is. All the math.

The Los Alamos Primer by Serber Another story of the atom bomb.
Dark Sun: The Making of the Atomic Bomb by Richard Rhodes Yet another story of the atom bomb. Can you tell I enjoyed this subject?
Skunk Works by Ben Rich
Napoleon's Buttons: How 17 Molecules Changed History by Penny Le Couteu Outstandingly good read about chemistry's effect on the history of the world. Highly recommended.

The Hot Zone by Richard Preston (about Biological Hazards) To get you to imagine how really bad bio toxins are! Scary good

Pappa (Ernest) Hemingway brandishing a shotgun. I've not been able to find credits for the photo but I'd say it's circa 1960-61 or just before his death. Was it the one he used to off himself? Seriously now, a great writer. You must read his books, "For Whom the Bells Toll" and "The Old Man and the Sea".
